Merrill Community Schools and the Saginaw Intermediate School District offer many early childhood experiences for children birth thru 5th grade. Head Start, located in the elementary building offers free preschool to eligible 3 and 4 yr. olds. If interested in Head Start call 643-7283 Ext. 129 or 131.
Merrill Community Child Development Center (MCCDC) is located at the west end of the Middle School building and is open M-F from 6-6. The center offers free preschool, Great Start Readiness Program, to 4 yr. olds that qualify, Tuition based preschool programs for 3 and 4 yr. olds, infant/young toddler room, older toddler/young three’s room, a before and after school program for school age children from our elementary and summer programming. MCCDC’s programs tend to fill quickly, if you can not make it to our registration night please call to make other registration arrangements. Merrill Community Child Development Center at Merrill Community Schools offers an array of early childhood experiences, in a licensed educational setting, for children birth through age 12. MCCDC is open Monday –Friday, 6:00 am-6:00 pm. Our high quality programs consist of infant and toddler care, several preschool experiences (Great Start Readiness Program for 4 yr olds, Tuition Based for 3 & 4 yr. olds and Great Start Early Childhood Scholarships for 3 yr. olds), before school services and an after school program. The district also houses a Head Start program that is run through the SISD.
Merrill is proud of their early childhood programs and the growth they have experienced. Take a look at what the staff, children and families have been up to so far this year.
Our after school children like to get physical and keep moving thanks to a grant from Dow Corning. They love their new indoor scooters, Xbox 360 Kinect, dodge balls, lacrosse, health and nutrition games and so much more. Our after school program is FIT!
Our preschools draw huge crowds in the classroom and in the evenings. Our December parent night had approximately 170 in attendance. Families created ginger bread houses, Santa visited and the children sang for their families. Our preschools are FUN!
Our infant and toddlers enjoy doing many activities in a warm, loving environment on a daily basis. They even go to the gym when the weather does not cooperate for outside play. In the classroom they are always learning, exploring, dancing and moving.
Our infant-toddler program is FABULOUS!
